Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I women’s tennis program. Assists with all aspects of the women’s tennis program and plays an integral part in the day-to-day administrative responsibilities, daily team training, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, academic monitoring, and skill development. This position must work within UNCW, CAA, and NCAA guidelines to provide student-athletes an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for championships.

• Assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis program along with the overall coaching, management, and administration of the program
• On-court drills, play, and practice feedback for players.
• Match day on-court presence and coaching.
• Head up Team Community Service for spring season.
• Attend road matches and help with travel responsibilities.
• Recruiting – email, contact, tournament recruitment.
• Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and university as well as the rules and regulations of the CAA and NCAA
• Participate in university, civic, and public relations activities for promotion of the sport
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency

• Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends

• Possess excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public

• Strong problem solving skills

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors

• Work effectively as a team member

• Previous customer service experience preferred

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
