Track & Field/Cross-Country Team Manager

Job Purpose

The Track & Field / Cross Country Team Manager is a vital member of the athletic support staff who assists the coaching staff in the day-to-day operations of the program. This role ensures the team functions efficiently by managing logistics, equipment, and administrative duties, allowing coaches and student-athletes to focus on training and competition

Duties and Responsibilities

Team Operations & Logistics

Assist with daily practice setup and breakdown (hurdles, blocks, implements, training.

Assist with team travel itineraries.

Equipment & Apparel Management

Issue, track, and maintain team uniforms, warm-ups, and competition gear.

Ensure all equipment is in safe working condition (hurdles, poles, throwing implements, etc.).

Assist with ordering and inventory of athletic apparel and supplies.

Competition Support

Serve as a liaison at home and away competitions, coordinating with meet management.

Help manage entries, bib numbers, and timing requirements.

Assist coaches with on-site logistics, warm-ups, and event flow.

Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate rosters, compliance paperwork, and travel forms.

Support the coaching staff with video, statistics, and performance tracking.

Assist with recruiting visits and program events.

Student-Athlete Support

Foster a positive, professional atmosphere within the program.

Ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules.

Serve as a resource for student-athletes regarding schedules and team operations.

Qualifications

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of track & field and cross country equipment, rules, and competition formats preferred.

Previous team management, athletics operations, or student-athlete experience desirable.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
