The Volunteer Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and athletic program in fostering the growth, development, and well-being of student-athletes. The Volunteer Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and athletic program in fostering the growth, development, and well-being of student-athletes. Assist with community outreach and program events as assigned by the Head Coach.
To comply with labor and athletic association guidelines, the Volunteer Assistant Coach may not:
Conduct recruiting or scouting of prospective student-athletes.
Independently plan practices, develop game strategies, or make in-game coaching decisions.
Supervise paid staff or manage student workers.
Flexible and coordinated with the Head Coach.
Generally ranges from 5–10 hours per month, depending on team and event schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., education, kinesiology, sports management) or current enrollment in a college/university degree program preferred.
Knowledge of sport fundamentals and techniques.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must complete and pay for a Level 2 Background Check (or equivalent standard per University policy).
Completion of required University compliance training (e.g., Title IX, Clery Act, and others as assigned).
Additional Requirements:
Must sign a Volunteer Agreement acknowledging the unpaid nature of the role and compliance responsibilities.
Adherence to all University, NAIA, and departmental policies and procedures.
Commitment to representing Florida Memorial University with professionalism and integrity
